Everton are considering a January bid for highly-rated Anderlecht forward Matias Suarez, it has emerged.

The 25-year-old has had an impressive start to the season with 7 goals and 7 assists in just 13 games, looking back to his best after an injury-hit campaign last year, and is back on the radar of several top clubs, having attracted strong interest from Arsenal in the past.

However, it now seems that Everton are the club showing the strongest interest as January approaches, SportsDirect News understands.

The Toffees have had a strong start to the season themselves, and manager Roberto Martinez is keen to add some extra firepower upfront as his ambitious side chase a top four spot.

Although Everton currently have Romelu Lukaku in fine form upfront, Martinez is wary that his other forwards, Nikica Jelavic and Arouna Kone, are not performing, and at least one of the pair is likely to be sold when the transfer window re-opens, while loan star Lukaku will return to parent club Chelsea at the end of the season.

Suarez is undoubtedly a player with great potential, and it currently seems that other top sides are not quite prepared to take a gamble on him with his recent fitness issues.
