Premier League trio dealt blow in Shaqiri chase
6th December 2013 1:05am GMT
Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United look set to miss out on Bayern Munich winger Xherdan Shaqiri following news of Arjen Robben's injury.
The Swiss international had been attracting a great deal of attention from the three English giants as well as other big-name European sides, though SportsDirect News now understands he is unlikely to be sold or allowed out on loan as manager Pep Guardiola needs cover on the flanks.
Shaqiri is widely regarded as one of the most promising young players in the world, though he has struggled to establish himself as a regular since signing for Bayern Munich last season, and has been linked with a move away.
However, he could now be handed an opportunity to impress with Robben set for around two months out of the team, and Franck Ribery still a few weeks away from full fitness as well.
Bayern have been linked with moves for other wingers in the January transfer window, though Guardiola is still understood to be reluctant to allow Shaqiri to leave at this stage.
