Man Utd: Monaco keen on Kagawa
4th December 2013 5:52pm GMT
Monaco could tempt Manchester United into selling Shinji Kagawa with a big-money bid this January, SportsDirect News understands.
Several clubs have shown an interest in the Japanese international in recent times, as he appears to be out of favour with manager David Moyes this season, though United are keen to get a good price for the player they forked out £17million for in 2012.
Kagawa had been a highly impressive performer at previous club Borussia Dortmund, and although he has not quite managed the same impact in English football, United are not ready to let him go too easily, which may give mega-rich Monaco an edge in a deal.
With the backing of wealthy Russian owner Dmitry Rybolovlev, manager Claudio Ranieri was able to bring in big names such as Radamel Falcao and Joao Moutinho to the club in the summer, and it is now thought that he could be willing to pay around £25m to land Kagawa.
Monaco have been linked with several other attacking players, such as Paris Saint-Germain winger Jeremy Menez and Zenit St Petersburg forward Hulk, but the Red Devils playmaker is understood to be Ranieri's preferred target.
Much of what happens with the 24-year-old also depends on the future of team-mate Nani, who is wanted by Juventus. United will be keen not to lose two attacking midfielders at once, and will hold out for suitable offers before considering a sale.
