AC Milan are considering replacing Massimiliano Allegri with former Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo, in a bid to improve their faltering season.

The Italian giants have under-performed so far this year, and Allegri is known to be under pressure at the San Siro, and SportsDirect News understands that the Milan board are on the lookout for alternatives.

Di Matteo has not been in work since being sacked by Chelsea last season, and has recently been linked with Galatasaray and with the Italian national team to replace Cesare Prandelli after next summer's World Cup.

The former Blues boss worked wonders during his short time at Stamford Bridge, leading his much unfancied side to the Champions League, beating big favourites Bayern Munich in the final.

No doubt a talented young coach, Di Matteo may feel he could build a strong team with the players at his disposal at Milan.
