Tottenham prepared to spend big on Kagawa
24th November 2013 10:00pm GMT
Tottenham Hotspur will try their luck with an ambitious bid to Manchester United for Shinji Kagawa this January, in an attempt to save their season.
Spurs are in crisis with a 6-0 thrashing at the hands of Manchester City this weekend putting big pressure on manager Andre Villas-Boas to turn things around.
Having struggled for goals this season, scoring just 9 so far in the Premier League, Villas-Boas will hope to bring in new attacking players to enhance his options, and SportsDirect News can reveal that Kagawa has been identified as a possible target.
The Japanese international is likely to be made available for transfer by United this January with manager David Moyes not favouring him in his starting lineup on a regular basis this season, though it remains to be seen if he would consider selling to a rival.
United held strong when Chelsea tried to sign Wayne Rooney during the summer, and they may again feel that they'd be better off selling Kagawa abroad, with interest likely to come from the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Juventus as well.
Still, having spent over £100million during the summer, Villas-Boas could be ready to spend big again to ensure he lands his target, with Kagawa widely viewed as being harshly treated at Old Trafford, and ready to make an impact in English football.
