Doncaster transfer news: Dickov wants Irish charm
12th July 2013 1:55pm BST
Doncaster Rovers boss Paul Dickov is ready to sign veteran goalkeeper Shay Given - one of three top Irish players - as the Yorkshire club lines up a new investor.
Dickov has approached Aston Villa's Given, out-of-favour midfielder Stephen Ireland and freed veteran defender Richard Dunne in a remarkable move.
Rovers are in negotiations with an Irish property developer to pump his personal funds into the club - and he wants his fellow countrymen to sign.
Given has been told he can go on loan to play, while Ireland is in the same boat - both have time left on their Villa contracts.
Dunne is hoping for a Premier League club and has also been sounded out by Queens Park Rangers, but he may also fancy Doncaster.
The trio - along with old boy Billy Sharp - are on the wish list in a signing spree that could make Doncaster serious players in the Championship.
